The SSC-type valve is a disc gate valve with a ceramic sealing system designed for on/off operation and control applications involving highly corrosive and extremely abrasive media. It is engineered for extreme conditions where either high switching frequencies and a long service life are required, or where severe abrasion occurs during control operation but dead space within the valve cannot be tolerated.
The operating principle is based on three floating ceramic discs that seal against one another. The middle disc can move linearly. Different geometric shapes of the disc orifice allow for specific control characteristics. The two outer discs are stationary. Springs are used to compress the sealing system. The medium comes into contact only with ceramic components or seals; therefore, special materials are not normally required for the housing.
